About the programme

“Meet Bosnia and Herzegovina” Summer School within the Thinkerica Education Centre, is designed as a recreational and educational programme for young people of Bosnia and Herzegovina origin who are not currently residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for children and young people living in B&H. The concept of the summer school is conceived as a journey on which, through interactive and interdisciplinary methods, participants get acquainted with Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special emphasis on historical development, cultural heritage, religious tradition and natural resources of this country. The curriculum of the summer school is designed to motivate young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora to improve their knowledge of the mother tongue, to learn something new about culture and customs and to make new friendships and to develop a sense of mutual understanding through travel, teamwork and socializing.

With an interdisciplinary approach, the summer school enables young people to learn something new and gain new experiences in a different way.

Goals

The goals of this programme are to introduce young people to:

 

  • the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the historical continuity of Bosnian statehood
  • the most significant monuments of the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • peculiarities of cultural and artistic creation in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • the unique breathtaking natural sights of Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • religious traditions, organization of religious communities and interreligious dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • successful social activism in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • proactive participation of young people in the process of (re)integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina society

Results

After completing the programme, young people will:

  • know the history of the continuity of Bosnian statehood
  • acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to recognize and get to know the cultural foundations of plurality in the Bosnian society
  • be able to experience the culture of living in Bosnia and Herzegovina through history while doing identification exercises with elements of the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • check their knowledge about Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to proactively contribute to the integration of BiH society
  • improve knowledge of the mother tongue
  • get acquainted with the natural, social and economic potentials of Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • get the opportunity to see the possibilities of future personal and professional engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina within motivational workshops

  13. Screening of the documentary film “Space”
  14. Religious traditions, religious communities and culture of interreligious dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  15. Tour of the Old Orthodox Church, Gazi Husrev Bey’s Mosque and Catholic Cathedral in Sarajevo
  16. Musical performance at the Yellow Fortress in Sarajevo
  17. Final gathering and making an individual postcard “My Bosnia and Herzegovina”
