SAPERE BH: The fourth module of P4C education of Sarajevo Canton teaching staff

In the period from 28-29 August 2023, the fourth and last TOT training module “Philosophy for Children – P4C” was held for teaching staff in Sarajevo Canton. This time, the participants realized philosophical questions as a prerequisite for obtaining a certificate.

The teachers, in pairs, carried out philosophical questions discussing social topics such as: the importance of friendship, the influence of personal attitudes on the perception of others, whether we become lonely due to the frequent use of social networks, whether we envy our friends for material things, whether there is salvation from capitalism and the like.

The two-day module was intensive and the philosophical questions followed one after the other. Trainers, M.Sc. Elmana Cerić and M.Sc. Dragana Koprivica monitored and evaluated them and provided feedback to the participants. The module was also attended by prof. Taro Komatsu, PhD from Japan (Sophia University), who is currently conducting research on the impact of informal education on formal education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prof. Komatsu pointed out that Japan also faces similar problems in education as Bosnia and Herzegovina and believes that the application of the Philosophy for Children method would greatly contribute to encouraging creative and critical thinking in children, which are more than necessary today.

TOT trainings are implemented by the TPO Foundation in cooperation with the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education of the Canton of Sarajevo.
