LOC4SOC: Workshops held to strengthen the intercultural competences of students in the Municipality of Hadžići

In the period from 16-19, April 2024, four workshops were held in the area of the Municipality of Hadžići. The aim of the workshops is to strengthen the intercultural competences of eighth-grade students by the teaching and professional staff who initially participated in the ToT trainings.

The trainings were carried out in the following schools:

  • Elementary School Hadžići, by teachers Sabina Agić and Emina Fejzić;
  • Elementary school March 6, by teacherS Eldina Matoruga and Đenan Mujan;
  • Elementary school May 9, by teacherS Kenan Bandić and Mediha Biber i
  • Elementary school Hilmi ef. Šarić, by teacher Suad Šarić and assistant Arnesa Hujić.

What the participants of the ToT training learned and questioned, they transferred to 72 pupils from their home schools. The topics discussed by pupils are human rights, equality, empathy, discrimination, prejudice, stereotypes, interculturalism, social cohesion, etc.

In the globalized world, the interaction of different cultures and social minorities is a big challenge. In order to avoid conflicts due to differences, it is necessary to develop intercultural competences and to be aware of the prejudices and stereotypes we have towards the other and the different. Pupils from the area of Hadžići Municipality share a local community with people on the move, they meet them at school, parks, playgrounds…, and the creation of a pleasant coexistence depends precisely on them and their desire to meet and accept different nations, with different value systems.

Our activities are supported in the framework of the project “Individual measures to strengthen capacities for managing migration flows in Bosnia and Herzegovina” financed by the European Union and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
