LOC4SOC: The final TOT training module was held to strengthen intercultural competences in Hadžići Municipality

In the period from 12-13. in February 2024, the second and final TOT training module was held to strengthen the intercultural competences of teaching and professional staff from four schools in the Hadžići Municipality. The training was led by experts in the field of interculturalism and social cohesion: prof. Jasna Kovačević, PhD, Lejla Đelilović, BA and Mirza Kovačević, BA.

21 teachers and professional associates from four elementary schools participated in the training: Primary School 6. Mart, Primary School Hadžići, Primary School 9. May and Primary School Hilmi ef. Šarić. On the first day of the training, the participants were introduced to the methodology of trainer training, that is, they gained insight into methodical, pedagogical/andragogic and psychological training and further training of trainers in education. The discussion was focused on the roles and responsibilities of trainers, which we tried to empower the participants considering that in the coming period they will implement replication trainings for colleagues from schools. After the theoretical part, the participants, through group work, devised ways of acquiring different skills (learning a new language, learning the alphabet), preparing the space for the implementation of training as well as implementing different campaigns (such as the anti-bullying campaign). In order to prevent less pleasant situations, a discussion was held with the participants about how to react adequately.

The second day of the training is dedicated to the presentations of the participants. Through nine pairs, the participants presented the development continuum, all in the context of intercultural themes and social cohesion. After the fifteen-minute presentations, the coaches gave reflections, but also encouraged the whole group to become critical friends. They gave each other advice for improving their work during training, shared experiences in working with children on the move, and all of this resulted in a final evaluation. The participants agreed that after the ToT training they will better understand the other and the different, and they expressed their desire to continue such educations.
