Second ETOS Interreligious Dialogue in Sarajevo

As part of the ETOS initiative, TPO Foundation and IMIC Zajedno organized the second interreligious dialogue for high school students on June 9, 2026. During this educational visit, the students visited a synagogue, an Orthodox church, a Catholic church, and a mosque, learning about the rich religious and cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The visit was led by Dr. Amra Pandžo.

The aim of the visit was to empower young people to better understand and respect diversity, and to encourage them to build a culture of dialogue, solidarity, and shared life. At a time when differences are often used as a reason for distance, mistrust, or division, such encounters show how important it is to create spaces where young people can learn about one another, speak openly, and develop a sense of responsibility for the community in which they live. The visits enabled the students to experience religious diversity not only as an abstract concept from textbooks, but as a living experience of encounter, respect, and learning.

A special value of the program was that the students were able to ask questions, share their own reflections, and discuss similarities and differences among religious traditions. This approach contributes to reducing prejudices and stereotypes, while also strengthening awareness that different religious communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina share many fundamental values: care for human beings, peace, dignity, responsibility, solidarity, and charity.

Through an interactive approach and open dialogue, Dr. Amra Pandžo encouraged the students to participate actively, ask questions, and reflect on the importance of mutual respect and cooperation in contemporary society. Her facilitation made the encounter not only educational, but also a stimulating space for exchanging views and building trust. Programs like this remind us that a culture of peace and dialogue is not built only through grand declarations, but through concrete encounters, conversations, and experiences that open space for shared life.

The ETOS initiative continues to promote the values of ethical education, interreligious understanding, and responsible citizenship, with the conviction that young people are key actors in a society where differences are not an obstacle, but a richness and an opportunity for joint action.
