Within the project <strong>Peer and Gender-based Violence in School</strong> supported by Norwegian Government TPO Foundation launched the 16 days of activism campaign with slogan <strong>'<a href=’http://tpo.ba/b/novosti/171016%20KonkStrip17.html’>AWAKEN, MOVE, CHANGE!</a>’ </strong>in more than 40 primary and secondary schools of BiH.
Celebration of the <strong>International Human Rights Day on December 11.2017</strong> marked the end of <strong>16 days of activism campaign</strong> that gathered <strong>more than 200 teachers</strong>, <strong>over 1000 students</strong> and <strong>2000 parents</strong>. In partnership with Jewish Community of BiH the final event was held at 11 am and TPO’s publications: <strong>two manual for strengthening capacities of teachers in their work with students and parents as well as Baseline Study on peer and gender-based violence</strong> are presented. Exhibition of student’s comic book work from primary and secondary schools was also opened and the best comic book artists are awarded.

During 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, TPO Foundation together with 41 primary and secondary schools from across BH organized a series of educational activities whose slogan was ‘AWAKEN, MOVE, CHANGE!’. This year’s campaign gathered over 200 teachers and 1000 students who considered the importance and possibilities of a synergetic action by family, teachers and parents with the help from a large number of TPO Foundation’s didactic and promotional material. With the help from TPO Foundation, over 160 different workshops were equally attended by teachers, students and parents, which made school communities stronger, put smiles on students’ faces and positively surprised their parents.
On the last day of the campaign, when the International Human Rights Day was traditionally celebrated, TPO Foundation presented all the campaign activities to its numerous guests and once again highlighted the importance of active family–school cooperation in reducing and preventing gender- and peer-violence in BH society. Part of the campaign was a competition for the best comics intended for young people from across Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which a great number of students applied. The competition expert jury Sanja Jurić, Croatian language teacher, Semir Salihović, religious pedagogy teacher, and Neven Misavljević, illustrator and graphic designer, selected 19 best works which completely met the given topic and competition guidelines and criteria.
Those comics are also included as illustrations TPO’s manuals: ‘Peer- and gender-based violence prevention: strengthening teacher competencies in their work with children’, edited by Melika Šahinović and Amila Kahrović-Posavljak; ‘Peer- and gender-based violence prevention: strengthening teacher competencies in their work with parents’, edited by Monja Šuta-Hibert and a Baseline study-‘Peer- and gender-based violence in primary schools’, edited by Melika Šahinović and Alma Jeftić. The publications were created within a three-year project ‘Peer- and gender-based violence prevention in schools’ carried out by TPO Foundation with the help from Sarajevo, Hercegovina-Neretva and Central Bosnia Canton ministries of education in partnership with 30 BH primary schools. Mrs. Emina Jusufbegović, an adviser for the Hercegovina-Neretva Canton Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, spoke at the presentation, while Mrs. Snježana Petraš, psychologist and pedagogue, spoke on behalf of Central Bosnia partnering primary schools. The presentation and collective exhibition of best comics were held on December 11, 2017 in the Jewish Community Center to mark the International Human Rights Day, and the event gathered over 180 young people, children, teachers, several education ministry representatives as well as other TPO Foundation partners. Thanks to the financial support of the Norwegian Government and UniCredit Bank dd Mostar, jury announced the selected four best comics in two categories for 2017.
