ETOS Initiative: campaign 16 days of activism – High School for Textiles, Leather and Design Sarajevo – art exhibition

On December 9, in the school hall, a program was held within the framework of the Ethos project “LET’S BE ENCOURAGED – LET’S SPEAK UP”, a program that included: the opening of an exhibition of art works on the theme “LET’S SPEAK UP”, a performance by schoolgirls who sent messages of condemnation of gender in English and in their mother tongue based on violence and encouraging everyone to see and talk about violence. The application of messages on T-shirts about gender-based violence was also promoted.

The activity included the work of 16 schoolgirls who drew art works, the modeling section of four schoolgirls who wore T-shirts decorated with applications at the first workshop held on December 5, and schoolgirls who participated in the performance “Violence speaks a universal language, so let’s talk”.

The goal of the activity was to educate students to recognize and report any form of gender-based violence. The exhibition “Let’s Talk” has an educational role for the teaching staff, professional and technical staff of the Middle School for Textiles, Leather and Design.

Professors participated in this activity. Amra Ganić – performance in English, Selma Karičić – designed the performance and coordinated the program, Alma Ahmethodžić – coordinated the activities of the students who drew art works.

During the day prof. Alma Ahmethodžić took the students to see the exhibition as part of the civic education class, after which they talked about gender-based violence, the concepts of sex, gender and types of gender-based violence.

The messages of the schoolgirls are contained in a video where they condemn the violence and call for an end to the silence.
