ETOS Initiative: campaign 16 days of activism – activities in Second High School Sarajevo

Students of Second High School in Sarajevo marked the “16 Days of Activism for Gender Equality” campaign again this year. The slogan of this year’s celebration of the campaign is “No shhh anymore”, and the research results and original student works were presented at the final event on Friday, December 9, in the House of Knowledge of the Second High School.

As in previous years, the campaign was implemented in partnership with the support of the TPO Foundation, within the framework of the ETOS initiative, and included various activities that the students carried out for more than a month. Divided into several groups, the students worked hard on the theoretical design of the campaign to inform the wider and school public about the mechanisms of gender-discriminatory speech and self-silencing, and conducted an anonymous survey among peers in which the results on the subject of assertive behavior were processed, and the results of both groups were used to create an informative brochure, poster, video, and design checkers.

The slogan of this year’s global campaign is “UNITE” and it included important international dates – November 2, International Day Against Violence Against Women, December 1, World AIDS Day, December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 6, anniversary of the Montreal massacre and December 10, International Human Rights Day.

The school band provided the music for the final event, and the event ended with sweets made by the hardworking boys of the Second High School. The event was attended by school director Seid Alibegović, assistant director Merisa Drakovac and CAS coordinator Aida Sejdić Melezović. The campaign was implemented at the school by teachers Elmana Cerić, Sandra Muratović and Jasna Kovo Salkić.
