Nine year old pupils know how to talk about love in a very creative way. They demonstrated it through the philosophical inquiry facilitated by their teacher Ajka Karić from Primary School “Isak Samokovlija”, municipality Center in Sarajevo within the Bosnia/Serbian/Croatian language classes. The inquiry was held in April, 08, 2022. With the poem “Golden Can”, by Oton Župančić pupils were revealing the secrets of love.
Using their creativity, critical, collaborative and caring thinking pupils were searching for ideas and then they have created their own questions, such as: “Do we always need to love brother or sister?”, “What is love?”, “What makes love special?”, “What is more valuable than gold?” They have voted for the question “Do we always have to love our brother or sister?” and had a productive discussion exchanging their ideas, arguments, offering examples of various kinds of love and in the end they evaluated their inquiry process. The conclusion was that the inquiry was interesting, but that they need to listen more to each other, because love also requires listening. We thank our teacher Ajka and diligent pupils.
