LOC4SOC: Replication trainings to strengthen intercultural competences in the Municipality of Hadžići

In the period from 25-29. March 2024, four replication trainings were held in the area of the Municipality of Hadžići. Replication trainings aim to strengthen the intercultural competences of teaching and professional staff by colleagues who originally participated in ToT trainings.

The trainings were held in the following schools:

  • Elementary School Hadžići, by teachers Merima Turajlić and Nerma Isović;
  • Elementary school 6. mart, by psychologist Arijana Osmanović Štukan and social worker Lejla Fejzić;
  • Elementary school 9. maj, by teachers Nermina Čomor and Emina Mujić and
  • Elementary school Hilmi ef. Šarić, by teachers Alisa Šehić Fejzić and Halima Ramić.

What the ToT training participants learned and questioned, they transferred to 86 colleagues from their home schools. After the introductory presentation on the details of the LOC4SOC project, through the presentation, the trainers presented several topics, among others the topic of identity and values in the context of interculturality; of discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes, Bennet’s continuum through which the participants questioned the current position and the desired position (where I am and where we strive).

In addition to the fact that the participants enjoyed learning from their colleagues and once again found themselves in the role of critical friends, they concluded that it is necessary to pay more attention to the topics of interculturality in the educational system. In the area of Hadžići Municipality, children on the move are also educated, and teaching and professional staff need capacity building in order to act adequately when it comes to working with minority groups. In the coming period, all teachers, participants of the ToT training, will conduct classes with students, in which we strive to strengthen their intercultural competences as well as suppress prejudices against people in the movement.

Our activities are supported within the project “Individual measures to strengthen capacities for managing migration flows in Bosnia and Herzegovina” financed by the European Union and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
