SECOND CREATIVE WORKSHOP ACTIVISM AND YOUTH FOR YOUTH IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS

The importance to talk about various forms of violence, causes and effects, how to adequately resist it, but also about civic activism as a responsibility of each person in the community in which he/she lives, was shown by great interest of students in the ninth grade elementary school ‘May 9’ in Pazaric in the topic for which they had an opportunity to talk about two hours on the second creative workshop called Activism and youth which was implemented by the TPO Foundation in the framework of the ICDE on March 30, 2017.

Young people together with the moderator Melika Sahinovic questioned aspects of engaged art for which they agreed that is one of the forms of civic engagement because it points out problems and injustices in society in order to encourage positive change. Recognizing the problems, starting with personal problems to the community in which we live, is the primary step towards solving them. Anyone can face problems, concluded the young people, but it is important to discuss them and encourage ourselves and others to contribute to solving the problem, and they added that sincere friendship important for each person, because of which we shall care for each other, help each other and do good works because such acts make us proud, fulfilled and truly happy.<br /> During the workshop young people discussed about the heroine Nira and they had the opportunity to get their copies of the comics from the two editions of ‘Nira’, a collection of short stories ‘Nira’s challenges’ as well as a book called ‘All you (do not) want to know’ by Elma Softic-Kaunitz and Pavle Kaunitz. Young actors of the Academy of Performing Arts Ivana Vojinovic and Adis Omerovic made the workshop more interesting by performing two sketches on domestic violence and neglect to show what the consequences such behavior leave on the child.
