Within the University and Gender Mainstreaming (UNIGEM) project, and on the occasion of the campaign “16 days of activism against gender-based violence”, the Student Union of the University of Herzegovina, in cooperation with the TPO Foundation and with the support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Bosnia and Herzegovina student activities in the form of a series of interactive workshops and an artistic performance.
The Artistic Performance activity was held live at the University of Herzegovina in Mostar.
The performance was led by a student of the Faculty of Social Sciences, dr. Milenko Brkić (University of Herzegovina) – Anja Rikalo. Students: Edina Alihodžić-Ince, Mihaela Mandurić, Gabrijela Crnjac and Ivana Šarić actively participated in the implementation of this activity, and the performance was broadcast online.
The second group of activities organized and implemented by students of the University of Herzegovina is a series of online student workshops on the following topics:
– Economic violence against women (Workshop leader: student Filip Senta)
– Women in the fight for rights (Workshop leader: student Ana Minarik)
– Rights of children with disabilities and dyscalculia (Workshop leader: student Lucija Jurlin)
The workshops were held online via Google meet.
Narrative and melodic exercises inspired by the theme of gender equality were performed in such a way that students used specially prepared cards with inspirational texts to describe their feelings while suffering or committing some form of violence (verbal, physical), what their world was like during the violence, what thoughts , hopes, expectations, what is the remorse if there is the same after the active violence. All personal statements were written symbolically in the first person plural, as the goal was to speak on behalf of many who never even managed to say the same.
The common task of the group was to describe the situation with their posture, facial expressions, movements, and the form that the group forms, scoring the workshop: “There is no less or less violence. Violence is one and the same no matter how you pack it. It is in every form equally devastating and unforgivable to one who consciously chooses, does, justifies and perseveres in it. It is only darkness that has found the body through which it speaks louder or quieter in the world. “
Student workshops in the form of online presentations resulted in broadening the perspectives of the participants on the need to respond to violence and protect the most vulnerable groups (children, mothers).
