The theme of this year’s third Socrates Café in Banja Luka was entitled “Gender Based violence”. The coffee was held on December 13, 2021, in the reading room of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka, and was moderated by Andrea Slijepčević, a graduate of the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka.
In the introductory part of the presentation, the participants were introduced to the very concept of gender-based violence, what it represents, how we can recognize it and what types of gender-based violence exist. The second part of the lecture was followed by a conversation between all participants of the Socrates Café, where through different experiences, attitudes and reflections it was concluded that gender-based violence is unfortunately still one of the most widespread forms of human rights violations. Participants suggested that in order to combat gender-based violence, the primary priority should be to raise the awareness of each individual member of society.
