Critical thinking is learned, but in order to acquire critical thinking skills it is important to have a democratic atmosphere in which all participants have the freedom to express their views, argumentatively. From 12-13.11.2021. the final TOT for a group of high school and university teachers was held in Sarajevo. The training was led by Dragana Koprivica and Elmana Cerić.
The training was attended by teachers and pedagogical experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina: Andreja Pehar, Amela Macić, Marija Ćavar, Melina Fazlić, Senada Salihović, Razija Šahinović, Željko Šarić, Nizama Omerović, Željka Tubić, Sanela Delić, Tanja Tešanović, Senada Milanović i Azra Ahmić. TPO Foundation employees also participied: program director prof. Dr. Zilka Spahić Šiljak and project assistant Nejra Džananović.
The trainers began the training with teachers reflections on the implementation of the P4C program so far, and then presented the value aspects of philosophy for children, challenges in working with adolescents and exercises to encourage quality dialogue. Teachers demonstrated the acquired knowledge, in group form, through questioning activities. During the training, teachers had the opportunity to express their views on various philosophical issues, and some of them are: Are we aware of the dangers of underestimating others, What shapes us as a person, What wrong upbringing can do to a person, Does authoritarian style of education create aggression in young people?
After a two-day training, the participants evaluated the entire program, and one of the participants points out: “The organization of the training was excellent. The trainers were friendly, open, honest, good educators. The atmosphere was pleasant, stimulating, and the participants were empathetic, friendly, from whom I learned a lot. I look forward to our next meeting with joy and mild tremor.”
