ETOS Initiative: campaign of 16 days of activism in the Catholic school center of St. Josip Sarajevo – Image theater through the theater of the oppressed

On December 30, 2022, a workshop called Image theater through the theater of the oppressed was held as part of the Ethos initiative. The activity was organized by Emilija Pavićević, coordinator on behalf of the Catholic school center St. Josip Sarajevo in the CS Center auditorium. 25 students and two teachers participated in the activity.

Image theater was realized by Mrs. Arma Tanović, an actress from Sarajevo, for students from I – IV grades of the General Real Gymnasium. Also, debaters from the school debate club “Semper magis” took part in the workshop. The activity had both a theoretical and practical framework, which the students liked and encouraged them to participate more actively. After the introductory video, the students talked about their knowledge on the topic of violence against women, about examples from everyday life. After that, they had the task of writing what kind of gender-based insults are most often shared via social networks and how familiar they are with cruelty in their environment. Speaking about it and doing practical exercises, the students showed a deviation towards this way of communication, condemning it and developing awareness of the importance of speaking about these topics. The workshop was concluded by debater Denis Kešelj, speaking about the importance of communication with an emphasis on non-violent communication.
